Welcome to the Old Train House B&B

With the Blarney Stone, Midleton Irish Whiskey Distillery, Lismore Castle, and the Rock of Cashel all within an hour's drive, The Old Train House B&B in the village of Ballyhooly is the ideal base to spend a few days in the south of Ireland. Our nearest town Fermoy offers shopping, pubs and restaurants. Castlehyde House, owned by Michael Flatley of Riverdance and "Celtic Tiger" fame, is only 4km away. Ballyhooly is located on the N72 8km west of Fermoy, part of the main route between Rosslare Harbour in the southeast and Killarney in the southwest. Cork Airport is less than one hour away. All bedrooms are ensuite, fully heated, with TV and tea/coffee facilities. We even have our own classic car collection for guests to view.

For those who have never visited Ireland before, a word of advice. Don’t make the common mistake of touring Ireland by numbers in a short space of time. We find many guests try to pack as many tourist landmarks as possible into a week or ten days without taking the time to spend time with Ireland’s greatest treasure, its people. With so much history and heritage crammed into such a small island, no guide book could possible hope to capture the essence of what differentiates Ireland from other countries. A travel guide is a poor substitute for spending time mixing with the locals, hearing the different accents and dialects, sampling the food, and listening to the traditional music played in the local pub. We are a nation of storytellers and everyone has a tale to tell.
